What is Polarity Therapy?
Polarity therapy is an integration of energy work, cranial work, and structural/fascial bodywork with elements of nutrition and lifestyle therapies designed to work with the body-mind in a holistic way. Polarity is more of a philosophical approach to bodywork than a specific style, in and of itself. Dr. Stone, the founder of polarity had a background in chiropractic, naprapathy (think fascia and osteopathy), and cranial work. He put together a lot of these manual tools into a unified theory based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda.
What to expect:
In a polarity session your practitioner may evaluate your posture and gait, palpate your energy field, and ask a lot of questions about various aspects of your health, vitality and wellbeing.
From there a polarity session evolves into a bodywork experience, mostly done on a massage table. There may be elements formiliar to you from relaxation massage, a reiki session, or acupressre. In fact, in this country, these practices are heavily influenced by polarity work and many of the practitioners aren’t even aware that the moves they are doing come from a greater body of techniques and knowledge.
What to wear for a polarity session
You’ll want to dress comfortably. Generally speaking, you want to wear loose comfortable clothing that you feel comfortable wearing and aren’t restrictive. However, an alternative many people find useful is workout attire such as a sports bra or tank top and yoga pants. This allows for ease with the postural assessments as well as joint movements that may accompany the work.

Process Oriented Bodywork Series
Possibly the best way to experience the work and reap the most benefits from it is to book a Process-Oriented Bodyowkr Series.
This is a series of 7/8 sessions individually tailored around the 5 elements and the human energetic system. Through this series, we walk through each of the layers of the human energetic system with a focus on grounding and balancing each of the elements with each other, fine-tuning the person’s energy system to itself.
1st Session: Preparation (General Balance and Diving Down to Earth)
2nd Session: Earth Element
3rd Session: Water Element
4th Session: Fire Element
5th Session: Air & Metal Elements
6th Session: Ether & Wood Elements
7th Session: Integration
8th Session: Further Integration (An optional session for those who feel they need it)
Polarity Balancing Session
This is a general balancing session designed for general relaxation and stress reduction. For those who aren’t familiar with Polarity Work, this can be a good session to test the waters. For those who have already been through a process-oriented series and need a tune-up, you may also choose this option.
