Structural Integration

What is Structural Integration?

Structural Integration is based on the work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D. This is a series of myofascial bodywork sessions designed to bring the client into a better relationship with their dynamic fascial system to help you achieve better movement, proprioception, and help you plant your feet firmly yet gracefully on the ground.

“Structural Integration (SI) is a process-based approach to somatic education, typically involving manual therapy, that explores the possibility of change in how you use and experience your body. Through education, awareness, and therapeutic touch, you can release painful, stressful patterns of tension. Effortful habits are replaced with feelings of comfort, ease of movement and posture, and a sense of whole-body coherence.”
(International Association for Structural Integrators)

What to expect:

This is a form of myofascial bodywork in which the practitioner may work with you as you provide movement into the points being worked. Through each session, your practitioner will evaluate your posture and gate and fine-tune the session to address those issues most appropriate to your body when they present themselves.

What to wear for this work:

You will want to wear shorts or underwear and a sports bra or tank top. This allows for ease with the postural assessments and joint movements that may accompany the work.

12 Series

Are you able to commit to the long-term project of a more fluid, study, and adaptable you? In this series of sessions, we take you on a journey from the sole of your foot to your innermost core and back again. Slowly and deliberately we find areas of deeply held patterns and convince them to let go while simultaneously awaking muscles and encouraging your body to find a better grip on the earth and better alignment in gravity.

Each of the sessions builds on the last until finally we have addressed nearly every inch of the body and taught it what it is capable of.
